OCEAN & CRAFTS

Come down to The Old Shipyard and connect with the Aeroe maritime spirit with your own hands. Both children and adults are welcome in the beautiful shipbuilding hall, where you will learn to work with wood and steel from traditionally skilled instructors in the historic workshops at Ærøskøbing Harbour. The craftsmen are ready to guide you in carving a spoon from freshly felled poplar, forging a hairpin over an open flame, building an insect hotel from recycled materials, and much more, all while providing you with knowledge and practical experiences that offer a unique insight into how traditional craftsmanship and sustainability can go hand in hand.❣

At The Old Shipyard, teachers and students experience a hands-on learning experience in traditional and maritime crafts. In a collaborative working environment you gain practical experience of maritime craftsmanship.

Our experienced sailors and blacksmiths are ready to guide you back to a time when workmanship was created using your own hands, and things were built of raw materials respecting nature’s resources.
